ABOUT ME
Hola! My name is Suzy and I am blessed to live on the beautiful island of Ibiza.
I moved here after my divorce with my 2 girls and our dog Barney. We have since had a new addition, a puppy called Maple.
Since I was a child I had always wanted to live abroad. My life evolved in the UK with a business, a marriage, 2 children and a mortgage so I didn’t feel like I had a choice to follow my dreams. For much of the time I wasn’t unhappy but I wasn’t sure I was living life to it’s fullest potential either.
When I got divorced I had the opportunity to make some life changes and I took them! I knew it was time to follow a different path to happiness even though at times I doubted what I was doing.
My UK life was very hectic, dashing from one appointment to the next, a busy social life, meeting the demands of 2 young kids and really struggling with the work/life balance. I had totally neglected myself over the years, putting everything and everyone first. I learnt the hard way and suffered from a burnout aged 38. It was an unpleasant wake up call and I was forced to slow down.
I couldn’t work for 3 months and it took a year of self care to get myself back on track. I realised I had to make some major life changes: my health had to be a priority, it was time to leave my relationship and I had to find happiness as a single parent.
The decision to get divorced was not an easy one – there were a lot of fears, unknowns and disappointment - I felt like I had failed as a wife and was destroying our family life.
It was a lonely and overwhelming time – everything was changing and I had to step into these changes alone – I became a single parent, I became a co-parent, I had to move house, I had to go back to work full time and I had to cope financially on my own. That was a lot to manage and it felt like it!
Nowadays, I am so thankful that going through a divorce gave me the opportunity to really think about what I wanted my life to look like. It was time for a reset and such a positive turning point in my life. This is absolutely possible for you too.
I was fully expecting to be in the property business for the rest of my life but as life does sometimes it threw me a curveball.
Soon after I arrived in Ibiza I attended an NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) retreat. The aim was to understand myself (and others better) and learn communication skills which would help with my staff in the UK. I had no intention at that time to become a coach but after attending a second retreat I knew that helping and serving others was what I was destined to do. I have been on every retreat since and am now lucky enough to work on those retreats to help other people realise their potential and start living the life of their dreams. In 2020 I trained to become a divorce and break up coach which was a perfect addition to my NLP qualifications - becoming a divorce and break up coach has brought all of my life and business experience together.
What a transformational week that was – I was hooked! By the end of the second retreat I realised that helping and serving others was what I was destined to do. I have been on every retreat since and am now lucky enough to work on those retreats twice a year to help other people realise their potential and start living the life of their dreams.
Creating the Divorce and Self-Care Programme has brought all of my life and business experience together.
I am consistently reading, listening to podcasts and collaborating with other divorce coaches to continue my learning in order to offer more knowledge to my clients. I am delighted that I have found my passion and am genuinely excited about guiding people to happier more fulfilling lives.
I see my divorce and the learning that it brought to me as a gift. It forced me to work on my own self development and the relationship with my children. I am so thankful that I went through this process and I know you can feel this way too.
